i was wondering what u guys thinks are the best free antiviruses?
AVG for sure: AVG Homepage
i had AVG but it seemed to keep locking up. but i dont think that will be a problem on my new comp. anyway is it as good as, say...Norton or McAfee
Go to:
http://webattack.com and also http://nonags.com and cjeck out their list of freeware anit-virus apps.
i use avg and it works great, been using it about 8 months and hav'nt got a virus yet.
Pimpin is easy
best free antiviruses are the pirate copies of norton and mcafee that I pulled off fasttrack. this is, afterall, zeropaid.
Actually the best Norton you can get is Corperate edition, it gives you upgrades for life.
For sure norton corporate is the best.
I gave up on the freeware stuff awhile back :-)
if you want norton corporate, go to http://sharereactor.com and look for it in their files section.
you need edonkey to get it, but because it is a hashlink you will get a clean copy.
go for it wesr! :-)
ok thanx u guys but i didnt realize my new comp came with norton internet security, but maybe ill try some of those in the future

Seriously though, I have tried Norton, AVG, Panda and McAfee and they all slow the system down to a crawl. Especially when right clicking on items in Explorer, the menu seems to take forever to come up so I can copy or paste. Once I disable the AV, it speeds up again.
What happened to the ones that never upset the system?

My idea of an OS is one that operates the system, not a self contained package of every piece of software ever invented.
i use the free online scanner at www.pandasoftware.com it found a virus that AVG coulnd't find
Yeah I also recommend pandas online virus scan!
It is very good but a bit slow, but it is great when you need to scan right away and it is one of the best. They update daily, so you are getting best results.
