    DC++ Mods

    I have been using some mods of the DC++ client, and have been pleased.

    RevConnect is a modification of DC++ that adds features such as:

    Multiple Source Downloading
    Download one file from multiple users at the same time! This can vastly improve your download speeds.

    Magnet link and bitzi lookup support
    Find and recommend quality files with ease. Take a look at the forum for magnet links (and to post your own).

    Kademlia
    A hub independent en more effective search engine.

    Secure User Identification

    Automatically drop slow sources

    Memory Mapped Files
    Files are temporarily stored in memory to enhance file I/O and save your HD's life.

    This is great for many people, such as myself. Make sure you read their "Important Notes" before using, though. It's not for some people. ;)

    oDC is a mod that also has some unique features. Read about it at the website.

    I haven't had too many problems with these modded clients, and they work with original versions of DC++ and Neomodus...If Neomodus Clients even work ;) :)

    Feel free to add your favorite DC Mods / Alternates here.

    I'm a fan of reverse connect myself, but you shouldn't use it unless you have a really fast connection or you will just eat up all of the slots available in a hub for a long time. I feel bad when I use it even when I am on a 10mbit line, but I leave like 25 slots open at 10 mbits up to, to make up for it.

    I dont like hacked clients as they are called as they are picked up easy on client detectors and bots. I am worried about using rc as it hogs bandwidth but ill have to give its due soon as i may need two clients. Although the magent links i hate as its pointless with a network of dc clients. I would stick to shareaza for magents.

    I like multisource but that's because of the availability of individual high upstream speeds.

    I'm suprised Bostream and BBB customers still include that in their names... for me it means.. GOOD FAST SOURCE. :)

    If we were all on BBB, high speed Chello or Bostream connections (in other words.. if our ISPs weren't taking the piss out of us!!!) we'd all be happy.

    I also happen to use rmDC++ I just like it better, protects me from getting flooded off from bots. Doesn't happen often, but damnit, it's annoying.

    i chose dc++, coz you wont ever get banned by using it, as many of the hubs i visit are private, with account password, and limited user base of less than 150, but these peeps rip in secure mode and absolutely amazing in content

    and why i wouldnt bother with multi source is coz i have 128kbps dl speed, some times when i get uncapped and get 512, even then also it isnt a problem

    so IMO for any1 to make a decision between dc++ and mods, 2 major considerations are:
    risk of ban (refer to hub rules)
    and, need of multi source

    rmDC++ has version emulation. I've yet to be kicked for using it, though if I could find a good private hub, I'd go back to the origional.

    I'm using oDC 5.31 I get good upload speeds, but I get squat for download speeds. I have a 3 meg dsl, but sometimes the d/l speeds are as bad as dial-up.

    aight tried rmdc++
    zdc++

    but reverse connect is awesome, just like dc++, without all the annoyace of rmdc++

    will use both dc++ and revrse connect

    any other recommendations, something just like dc++ that has multiple source downloading, without useless features

    RevConnect is amazing, I feel it's actualy as positive as you get the file quickly on a fast connection and you don't clog a slot for hours.
