    email bounce deception

While I was on the can a moment ago I started thinking about the internet (what a surprize), and then email.

Email is pretty easy to manipulate (the way it looks, where it's from, etc) right ? Well, for curiosities sake, I was wondering if it was possible to make the sender of any particular email *THINK* that an email they sent out has bounced.

Man, this is bothering me so much. I know for a fact that there is a way to do it, but I just can't remember exactly how it was. I keep thinking it's in The Bat, but I have checked three times and I can't find it. I only ever use the Bat or just webmail, so I am going to have to find where I remember the feature. I can tell you that yes it is possible MoonMan, I just need to remember where I saw the bounce feature.

Edit: Alright, I think I found where I remember it from. There was a bounce feature in my old webmail at my college. We don't use it anymore, but I remembered my old login and saw it there. You could bounce a message that you go.

I can't help but think I have seen it in a bettter form in some software though...

    Vaguely related thread

Yes you can forge bounce messages. I seem to recall the email client Turnpike used had an option to do that.

I connect to port 25 on my outgoing mail relay and type it manually. See the RFC's for SMTP.

There is a application that fakes bounced email. I used it a few times (works good) but deleted it lol
    I got it off webattack.com , now called snapfiles.com

Not sure if it is still there. Might be lol

You can use IncrediMail. I use IncrediMail to collect my e-mail messages and when I get spam I use the bounce back feature. It will make the sender think their message did not receive you and that your inbox does not exist. It's a really nice feature, and IncrediMail is free!

i used incredimail a long time ago. Thing about bouncing back messages is at the ones who sent them are no longer there.. Create an account, and close it as fast. Do you ever get messages back that you sent back?
