Azureus Speed flucuates exactly Sinusoidally

Hi all. My first post. I have been frequenting this site pretty often though. I have an interesting problem and I thought I would share it and hopefully seek some suggestions.



Heres the current situation...

My Azureus shows Green for some torrents, and Yellow for others.
Say 3 with Green status have download speeds of about 10KB/s, even after an extended period of time. I checked the swarm and others were having speeds of 20KB/s, 80KB/s even. So its not the availability.

So I begin starting 8 torrents(green) at the same time to study the effect. The total download speed of Azureus would then increase, due to more simulataneous downloads. And after that, it fluctuates sinusoidally(really sinusoidally. u can see it climb up, up, hit a limit, and go down, down and then up, up) from 30KB/s to 80KB/s...

I do not think it is the dilution of upload speeds because its usually takes less than 15secs to increase from 50 to 80KB/s and it starts to go down rightaway. Snubs do not occur that frequently right?



My Configuration

Azureus, upload limit set to 80% of 32KB/s, played safe and lowered it to 22KB/s
Outpost to "always trust" Azureus(javaw.exe) (WinXP firewall is bitch-slapped, I am sorry. Disabled)
Blockpost implements 2 blocklists. antip2p and mil, gov, bad edu
Router port forwarded to my box's IP and Azureus listening port
I have a 1500kbps DSL connection.

I see everything is in order. But apparently that is not the case. Really looking forward to suggestions. Thanks ya all.

For torrents that don't have the ability to max out everyone connection with many many seeds, it seems to be a cycle of speed. Lets say you go to download some new movie out, but only a few seeds exist. They will be giving speed to different people and eventually your time will come around. With azureus, you can watch in the details tab at how fast everyone else moves up. It can only give you great speed if that speed is avaiable. I mean if there are like hundreds of seeds, you might max out and continue all the way through.

I really don't think that it is anything more than that. It is a common occurence on most files for all people. The problem is, some people think that bittorrent is so fast that it is always supposed to give you a maxed out connection speed or something close to it. It is all an illusion though. Remember, you have to compete with everyone else for bandwidth and most people, like you, limit their bandwidth. I admittingly do at home, but at college I can give up 10 mbits for everyone to use. Most people are out of college right now though, so I don't see a whole lot of extra bandwidth being available.

I do not believe this is the case as I have already mentioned that everyone else in the swarm is having a fine download speed. 20 - 80KB/s for that torrent. Mine hovers at 10KB/s. I can only increase my total download speeds to 80KB/s by starting more torrents simultaneously. It would seem that each of my torrent is forced to fluctuate around 10KB/s, never maxing out. Or else it should have maxed out to similar levels in the swarm.

Any ideas why my torrents could fluctuating around 10KB/s and never maxing out? When I have more simulataneous torrents, the effect is more pronouned and the total speed go sinusoid...

I wonder if this problem was ever resolved. I have the exact same problem. The download speed keeps fluctuating up and down up and down constantly. Thanks for any help!
