Hey everyone.
I have a problem when I try to defrag my harddrive, everytime I try to do it, it says CHKDSK is set to run when I re-boot, and that it can't defrag until that happens. The problem is that nothing happens during the reboot and the problem presists, I even tried to run CHKDSK manually, but the program keeps telling me the same thing, over and over again. I should say that I used diskkeeper, but even when I uninstalled it the same problem presists. Can anyone tell me how to fix this CHKDSK /f thing? Thanks

What OS are you running? I know a couple of people that have the problem you're describing with WinME. If that's the case, I don't know what to do. I just know that it's a problem.

Are you defraggin through window's defragger or are you running an external program like Diskeeper?
he said that he did use diskeeper, and then he uninstalled diskeeper and the same problem persisted.Originally Posted by Bhangra Knight

sometimes this happens when your hard drive has errors...until chkdsk is run and the errors are fixed windows won`t defrag......this happens quite often on early stuff like 98se and me...one reason why its restarting could be programes running in the background....try defragging in safe mode and then reboot and see if that does the trick...
First of all, thanks for trying to help me.
But even in safe mode it keeps saying the same thing.
*Yes, I corrected the problem. All I did was install SP2, thanks guys for trying to help
