    Leave, Get Out!

Well, I just wanted to know what your guy's thoughts are on JoJo. She's only 13 and can sing like a mofo. Her song's called 'Leave (Get Out)' and her debut CD comes out this month.

However, even though she's only 13 shes not a teenybopper. She's pretty R&B, kinda like Aaliyah and DC-3. Plus, she wrote 3 of the songs on her CD. Anyways, what do you think of her? So far her song is doing pretty good at radio, but, we all know P2P is where it matters most.

Oh, BTW, this is a pic of her. So young....

Yeah she is pretty damn good I will admit. I heard her through radio disney. I have to listen to that channel when I am outside working because I live/work in a valley and my old walkman will only barely pick that station up. I cant even get FM. I have heard a few great singers though through that channel, christy romano, myra, and a few others. Young singers are so impressive nowadays.

With digital recording technology being what it is, YOU and I would be impressive also.

I think with all this studio magic it has skewered peoples perception of what an amazing pure voice is; kind of like how the "beauty" and cosmetic/fashion industry has destroyed mens sensibilities when it comes to women, the same thing has happened with singers.

Hey me and you could do a duet, we could call ourselves "P Two P" LOL

I dont form a 100% opinion about ANY singer until I hear them unplugged, thats how avril got her narrow ass busted. A few female singers that I KNOW are real singers are

    Mandy moore
    christy romano
    anneliese van der pol
    Christina Aguilera(sp?)
    Lillix(heard them perform unplugged)

Hilary duff has to have her audio track doubled to make her voice full. Avril is a total digital workover.
I too agree with you about how men view women. I have recently took a little look back in time, I have looked at pictures od "hot" girls through recent decades. And many of the "classic hotties" of the 50's through 70's would be considered only average for most stars now. Many would be viewed as overweight as well. Overall society has changed. Men AND women are expected to be "hot" not NORMAL. Its no wonder many teen girls are depressed about their bodies. How can they stand up to girls who enhance themselves physically and have a team make their images/sounds better?

The image of perfection is always thrust upon people. I have noticed a shift at attitudes towards it as well, years ago it was viewed as "it would be great to have her body" to now "I MUST have her body, and I will kill myself to get it".

Perosnally, I like "real" girls. I find myself sickened by pam anderson, although most question if I am gay when I say that. I would rather have a girl with small breasts thats confident in herself than a headcase with huge tits anyday.

this girl is pretty good. her music isnt what i'd normally listen to, though.
I think that her age does limit what she can say and do somewhat, without causing contreversy.

This girl actually can sing though, she was on America's Most Talented Kid. The studio magic can't make people amazing singers live in that kind of context.

And WTF?!?!?!?! Avril is nooooooooooooo studio makeover! She can sing. Granted, she can be a bit pitchy at times, but thats because shes never gotten professional training. Download some of the acoustic sessions@AOL from Under My Skin, and you'll see.

I saw Jessica Simpson sing The Star Spangled Banner before a baseball game once(on TV) before I knew who she was.She was outstanding.I couldn't name one song of her's but I see her in the news all the time.
Edit-If I wasn't delirious from working in the heat today I would have noticed the Jessica Simpson post and then I would be able to name a couple songs.

In case anyone is interested in hearing a great female voice, I highly recommend Beth Hart. She is one of the most underrated singers around.
In the end, it's the music that matters.
