Is your connection slow or is your computer? http://webservices.cnet.com/bandwidth I usually close all programs and try this to see if my connection is up to speed. My cable company sometimes screws up and I have to call them to fix my speed.
Otherwise anything could cause a slow computer. Could be spyware (try Spybot or Adaware), could be a virus (try scanning with an up to date database), could be time for a reformat, or anything else. Perhaps you just installed somethign that doesn't run right and it's eating resources.
Please give more to go on. Perhaps what exactly you noticed the slow speed with, your OS, and so forth.
Disconnect your modem from the power and computer. Keep it off for about 5 minutes. Recconnect the modem. Flush IE's History and Cache.Originally Posted by spikky219
Defragment your hard drive. This usually doesn't have an effect on speed of connection, although it may.

Check for spyware, my son had the same problem.
