I would like to know what Indie bands people here like.
Please include the genre (or perceive genre) and website if they have one.

the postal service -- basically death cab with a hint of techno
longwave -- some slow songs, some fast songs

I am diggin' Pinback right now...
"There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17... I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherfucker before you popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice… The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be a shepherd."
all the indie bands i know resigned bigger contracts with other recording companies.. Blue oktober to be of one. I dont listen to indie bands as much since they all sound so angry.. garagebands.com is a good website though.
No, just listened to their stuff on the website.
I just listened to a couple of Pinbacks stuff. They are good, I really like the
songs they have posted on their sites. Thanks Wingnut.
Allmusic is decent with shoving bands into genres. pitchforkmedia.com is a good place to check out too.
i like the song Prog by Pinback (i think that's what it's called). and yeah phantom planet is a little poppy. some songs aren't though.
Franz Ferdinand are pretty big from here in Glasgow
also - The Walkmen
Von Bondies
D4
The Hives
The Datsuns
Kasabian
The Killers
D4...Dillinger Four? they're awesome. they started in minneapolis (2 hours away from my house 8))
I need to get more into the local stuff, we've got some pretty kickass bands in Minneapolis and the surrounding area. Ever heard of Sue Generis? I know they've been up there (Duluth). They're from around here, I guess they used to play at the environmental school before they changed their name and stuff. The bass player comes into my work from time to time and usually gives me a sampler. They've got a classically trained pianist. Piano makes me happy. They're slowly getting bigger... just about every time I go to Perkins at night when there are kids around, I hear someone talking about them. Strange but true.Originally Posted by thedirtyd
