Help with mIRC

I was trying to use mIRC last night for the first time the easy way. This is what i did. I downloaded mIRC from the following site.

http://www.mirc.com

and then i went to http://www.packetnews.com

and i did a search for a movie. When i tried to download it i get something like No such Nick/Channel. A mod from earthreactor was helping me. I don't even know how to read the commands in IRC and in the chat. Why do i get no such channel?? Can someone walk me through mIRC?? Thanx for any help and replies

I read everything to set it up but the downloading with the sites in the chat is WAY too confusing....

another guide for mIRC hope this helps irc is not as userfriendly as p2p progs but once you spend a few hours using it you have a mighty resource (70% of my d/ls come from irc)

Have you tried getting other files from other channels? Usually the "no such nick/channel" message is when that particular bot is offline.

I'm not even sure how to go about with the different channels. I just picked a channel who knows what it could of been it could of been filled with worms and i don't know. I have not a clue how to use IRC. A question for u vipp. Do u use any type of messenger to help me with this mIRC?? Tell u the truth guides aren't going to help me with this p2p and chat. I need someone that is willing to give up some time to help me. I use ICQ but i don't have it on my computer. Here is the messengers i have.

AIM
MSN
