    newbie here

    Is there any way to get better sound from MP3's after they've been ripped? I will try MP3 GAIN...

    Are you saying your ripping the songs yourself or ones from other sources?

    not really no... mp3 is a lossy format.

    My 1st contact too. just signed up.
    I think that in the process of ripping the sampling rate is set at that time.
    therefor quality is predetermined
    the only other possibility for change is subjective prefference through an effects processor

    Tell us what software your using to rip and what byte rate your encoding in it. Or what it is set on. I would rip to wav file and then encode in 192 abr lame. Or even 320 is the highest you can rip a cd to mp3 file for most programs out there. Although there are encoders that can encode to FLAC, or 384kbs.
