So tell me what is wrong with AnonX

Other than cost, what is wrong with using AnonX for sharing files anonymously? I don't see much mention of AnonX here or on the other file sharing boards and I'm just curious why not. I've been giving it a trial run for the past week and I'm very impressed so far.

With AnonX, you are sharing over an encrypted VPN connection. You set your firewall to block anything unless it is going through the VPN connection. They allow 1.5 mbps bandwidth for each user. Speeds not noticably different for me now through the VPN as I was getting before.

No logs are kept. They do not log your IP address. They don't even keep your email address. AnonX's server only keeps your login info: user name, user password, a status field if you have payed or not, and when to terminate.

The VPN connection is encrypted, so my ISP has no idea what kind of traffic this is. As far as they know, I am working from home on my company VPN. This seems to be an ideal solution for those who are on a network that blocks file sharing. With a little tweaking, I have even been able to get green light on BT and High ID on Emule.

Cost is not an issue to me if it makes my file sharing experience less risky. So tell me, other than cost in mind: What else is wrong with AnonX? Why aren't all file sharers using this? Do you not trust the company? Think this is an RIAA trap or something? Just don't want to pay an extra 10 bucks a month? Are VPN's unsafe?

Tell me why I shouldn't be using this service. Tell me how the RIAA is going to bust me while using this service. Tell me the negatives here.

probably nothing. You can get "high anonymity" proxy servers for free at proxy4free.com, proxz, and other sites too. If you'd like I can post the proxy IP i use (its high anonymity, canadian (i think) and runs fairly fast).

But if the RIAA really wants to catch you, they will. But chances are the proxy IS A GOOD THING; because it deters them, they'll prob. go looking for someone else.
