Nikki Hemming has emerged as one of the most mysterious Internet executives in the world.
» Want To Know More?Hemming, 35, is CEO of Sharman Networks. In late January, her little-known company bought the Kazaa Media Desktop (KMD), a popular post-Napster file-swapping program that is used by tens of millions of people worldwide. Even by the ordinarily eventful standards of the peer-to-peer world, the months since have been punctuated by controversy.
In March, Kazaa's biggest competitor went suddenly, surprisingly dark. Some fingers pointed at Hemming's Sharman, although her company wound up having nothing to do with the incident.
Earlier this month, Kazaa came in for criticism following news that Sharman had bundled software from Brilliant Digital Entertainment. The contretemps erupted because the software would ultimately let consumers' computers be used as part of a new commercial peer-to-peer content distribution network called Altnet.
Through all of this, Hemming declined interviews, communicating with the public only through press releases. Now she is finally lifting the veil on her company. A former Virgin Interactive executive, Hemming is convinced she can help move file-swapping out of a commercial--and legal gray--area and create a business model that will satisfy entertainment companies and consumers alike.

Interesting read, I never knew KaZaA's CEO was a chick... i guess that would explain the colors though :green4
I intend to live forever. So far so good.

It seems that women have actually played some key roles in P2P. Think of the late Gowenna, who put up ShareReactor, probably the best release site on the Net. The community it spawned is second to none.
We can only hope to achieve that level of community integration within these humble forums.
Yes...you are so right. Gowenna will be missed. So sad. ShareReactor.com flat out rocks.Originally posted by Roamerick

I can guarntee she's not cool one bit. She's one of those CEO hypocritic corporate America types that believe nothing in the morals of file-sharing. She's trying to get KaZaA Lite of the market, she ran away to Pacific Island to escape prosecution, and she has moved KaZaA into a SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE!!! AHHHHH. No one should support her.

Don't be fooled one bit...the 'real' CEO of KaZaA is not Nikki, but Kevin of Billiant Digital Entertaiment. Nikki is his way of trying to stay out of the US Lawsuit against KaZaA./ He is hiding behind Nikki to get his AltNet software distributed on tens of millions of computers before KaZaA is forced to pull the plug. By that time, Nikki and KaZaA would have accomplished BDE's goal of infecting everyone's computer so they can take it over and claim to the authorities that BDE is not responsible for KaZaA. Then BDE will just move in to capture tens of millions of dollars from the entertainment industry to use his AltNet to distribute their goods for a hefty price to consumers. This is their strategy---the only way to kill it is to remove all reasons for people to use KaZaA by not contributing thier files to the network. KaZaA was a great innovator--but has fallen into the Dark Side.
nevermind guys, i found it
Here's the article that explains it !
