There is a very broad range of Jazz. I like some of it, but I'm not big on Dixie Jazz. I love the guitar greats...Barney Kessell, Charlie Bird and Herb Ellis. I saw them live a few years back, great show! I also like Pat Metheny. I could go on, but...

I like most kinds of jazz. My favorites are smooth jazz and classic jazz.

Classic jazz does it for me, especially Wes Montgomery, Cal Tjader and Stan Getz.

    Cool Love that jazz...

Yes. I like what most people would consider "contemporary" jazz, versus the "standard" jazz that my father likes. I have a few albums by Kenny G. (his 1982 self-titled album with "Tell Me," "Crystal Mountain," and "Stop And Go" is one of my all-time favorites), The Jeff Lorber Fusion, Hiroshima, David Sanborn, et al. Most of these artists hit their peak in the early to mid-80s with their brand of pop-inflected jazz. I know some die-hard purists who swear up and down by Thelonius Monk, Stanley Clarke, The Blackbyrds, Ramsey Lewis and other artists of their ilk, but I simply can't ingest their improvisational style.

Jazz Rulez. It's the original, talented gangsta rap.

OK, enough about Jazz ... yea, I really like it, like playing it too ... But, "BLUES" is where my heart is. And I am not talking about that boring same song, different words stuff.

Getz and Cal....good taste my friend. Bill Evans and Maynard as well as Miles Davis all have a smooth flavor I happen to enjoy. Freddie Hubbard is just awsome when you're stoned out of your mind. lol

Toshiko's classic band stand jazz ain't half bad either...
