    Truly it would depend on in what country you live, and what types of files you are looking for.

    I would use Shareaza or Bearshare. Actually any of those are good. But try using Shareaza because it has 0 ads, and it contains both the bearshare and shareaza networks. It also contains edonkey and bittorent. It's pretty good stuff. -Matt

    Hi, I'll piggyback on this question, which I know oldtimers find irritating. I will say htat it's a shame that there is no FAQ on different systems (that I can find) It might reduce the questions you guys get.

    I am in Australia, running Windows Xp, and using Norton Systemworks and Spybot as an adware checker. I've downloaded Kario (sp?) as a firewall, but haven't installed it. I go through a router.

    My gf is into music, and downloaded (and paid for) Limeware from the KazaaLite site, which didn't have KLite on it. I've just spent 2 days reinstalling her operating system etc, and want something a bit more secure, and without ads and spyware. We don't have lots of money, and I like freeware on principle, though I'll buy stuff if there are no good alternatives.

    I'd like to know if you think Kerio is a good firewall, and whether firewalls create much problem. I've read a bit of stuff here, and know that routers and firewalls can interfere with being credited with uploads. So, since I use a router and want to install a firewall on her machine, what are people's recommendations for:
    Network;
    Client;
    Firewall;

    I have had someone recommend peer-guardian and KazaaLite. I had a hard time working out what exactly peer-guardian is. I'm new to this, have read some stuff before posting, and would appreciate some considered answers.

    Thanx,
    Connie

    Mz Concepcion,

    Use ZoneAlarm for your firewall and Shareaza (made in Australia) for p2p. :)

    Ok, thanx boys,

    I just downloaded Shareasa, and the Zone Alarm Firewall.
    How should I configure the firewall to make it work well?

    Is there anything else I should have installed or configured correctly to make things work well?

    Oh, and what about the Kerio firewall? Is there anything wrong with that one?

    thanks again,
    Connie
