Okay, i was searching on google for a web site with midi files. i went to one and it dident have any midi files and just pop ups. i left. i open my home page and it was high jacked by this site http://default-homepage-network.com/start.cgi?new-hkcu
all a sudden i see all these pop ups for free spyware scan and porn crap and i try and control alt delte to get out of it and all a sudden i see this crap running Mshta, Ftp, whatever thoes are. anyways i try and close them down then look on my desktop and i see something called "Tvm_B5_267" and something called "silent" "o" and "0021-bdl94126" . i saw NO security warnings what so ever at that site so how could they install this crap without asking? my active x settings are at there default and im using internet exploere 6. i thought oh well its just some crapp spyware ill remove so i updated spybot then ran it but it found nothing. so i think its a lil weird maby a trojan?
lots of stuff arnt discovered by spybot and other programs. what i do in situations like that is take either the file name(the virus\trojen) or the messege im getting or whatever the program does and write it in google, somone outhere got what you got and got rid of it, find the explanation to how to do it.
if you got a new one you will just have to wait till somone figures it out.
Runescape
Use the latest Spyboy to IMMUNIZE your browser, and use the tray applet that comes with it. I also have Pop Up Stopper Pro which sits in the toolbar of IE.
I have IE so locked down, I can surf anywhere all day and not worry, I have Netscape 7.1 installed to post here etc, and for places where I need activex to work.
Use Hijackthis to sniff out how youve been hijacked, and it will eradicate it for you.

If youre still in doubt of virus, go to trend micro and do the free online scan.

Run it again. Also run adaware. And update and run your antivirus. Also, you can go into your registry and changed your start page if you cant do it through IE control panel. Use regedit and search for an entry called "Start Page". Insert your old homepage instead of the hijacker.
this doesnt work whith hijackers, the registry entry just comes back as soon as you change it.Originally Posted by fireforce555
