The Punisher, will it be better this time?

Anybody remember the hollywood-comic conversion of Punisher with Dolf Lundren in it?
In 89, before comic movies were half decent (it takes another decade almost).
Well its shameful tripe if you want to check it out not to mention Dolf sucks but hey... anyone up for seeing the very cool remake with Travolta??

lol I just realised the question and then the options arent quite lined up so the question is do you think it would be a good movie

I Have noted the remarks "shameful tripe" and "Dolf sucks". Well I'm a big fan and now I'm deeply hurt. deeply....very deeply... so deep I need a decompression chamber to cry in. I've referred this thread to CrankJerker and Sheeshkebab, you'll be hearing from them shortly.

Dude, 1989 punisher was very good. Dolf played a very good role.

I went to see this punisher, and I must say it kicked ass. Really great movie with tons of fighting and a nice story :)

LOL Im sorry man I should have thought before I posted I know being a family site using such innuendo like "sucks" is only trouble. I should have taken Dolfs feelings into account..if he ever read that post I could get sued for Defamation. When the mods come to beat me with a wooden poll I will be sure to throw my repentance out for all to see :goodjob

It was allright story wise but...ughhhh.....Dolf DOEs suck...I am really sorry...its almost like getting your gym bag with the volleyballs in it hooked up to a car battery......oh...no that was Super Mario Brothers the movie hehehe. I am impressed with the newer game and comic based movies coming out. they finally realised the original fans grew up and they dont need to rely on campy cheese to make it "authentic"...wasnt the one in the 80's only PG-13?
You'd have to admit modern day liberalisim has had an effect on our entertainment "read desensitized" making some of these movies cool...more adult. Just my opinion of course

No contest there for sure. Dolph will be officially snake bait, lol.

Plus, why ruin another good movie by association? ;)

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".

I couldn't find a suitable option for this poll. I tend to believe that the quality and significance of such "entertainment" is questionable. If both pieces of "entertainment" mentioned in this thread were offered in exchange for nothing more than the loss of the free physical space occupied by the objects, than I might accept on the sole premise that the materials have a potential resale value. This is only a matter of taste. I'm not attempting to ridicule the contrasting opinions and choices of others who believe the features are worth the expense.
I don't dislike all such forms of entertainment. I'm curious to see to what degree the network broadcast of "Helter Skelter" explores the more extreme intricacies of human behavior. Although it's unlikely, afterwards I may feel that I've actually learned something.

I remember reading about Punisher when he was a Spider-man foe not a superhero, it was so funny. The Punisher was so crazy he was tring to kill people for running red lights and such. He was completely whacko! But as in many cases, when people start to like a bad guy the turn him into a hero. Oh well. I heard this was loosly based on the Garth Enis series, which I didnt read but have read some of his other stuff which is kick ass, and he is the Quintin Tarantino of the comics biz. The adds on TV look boring to me but Ive heard its good. I generaly dont like comic book based movies. Both X men flicks were good but thats about it. Im still waiting on the Hellblazer movie Ive been hearing is coming out for about 2 years now. sigh-

Hard as ever and here to make you people believe...as long as there is one person to hold hope and dream...A GOD...will never die!

In looking back I should have made a fourth option along the lines of this here

option 4) the quality and significance of such "entertainment" is questionable

You know sometimes a movie is just a movie, there does not always have to be a lesson or complicated plots with buddies mother pinching him too much as a kid and making a crazy man
There is good thoughtful entertainment like history and true crime, and mysteries. All real life with plenty decent channels that carry such things A&E and Discovery being some of them. I watch those and read materials based on the same. I google innane things to find the root meanings of whacky words and references. At the end of the day though..if you like cheese...watch Dolf ..if not watch this new guy (cant quite remember the name) and I openly admit the two movies in question are not at the top of the intellectual ladder but they arent meant to be, as well I dont limit myself to this specific Genre of movie (kids I stopped reading comics years ago). Just one in many that I like. (maybe even for nostalgic reasons) and as well I toatally dig your view on such things. If we both profess not to care one way of another then there are no worries
