Photoshop Question

I am in the process of learning how to use photoshop 7.0 and I seem to have forgot something. Now I know all of the people here are very smart when it comes to photoshop so heres my question.


Now I know when messing around with a banner you can make text...easy


I have forgottten how to make the text have effects such as make them more 3-d like or how to make the test shadowed...ect..the effects...i can't think of the words for it but I hope you all get the point.

if you want a simple way to do it, get eyecandy 4000. its not free, but you are at a filesharing site, so one would deduce that you should be able to obtain it.

If you don't want to 'obtain' any more illicit software (im not sure why one would download a $500+ program, then refrain from getting a $40 addition by the same means) you can do it with photoshop by itself, but this requires a little more effort on your part.

Drop shadows:
1) make a copy of the layer you want to give a drop shadow.
2) with the copy layer selected, go to Layer > Rasterize > Shape
3) now go to Image > adjustments > Brightness/Contrast. move both sliders all the way to the left.
4) now move this layer underneath the original layer
5) move the copied layer around so that the angle of the dropshadow you want is produced.
6) with the copied layer still selected, change the opacity (right above the layer window). i suggest somthing between 40% and 80%, depending on how light or dark you want the drop shadow to be.
7) go to Filters > Blur > Motion blur and fiddle with the controls until an effect that is suitable is produced.

3D effects arent so simple. it depends alot on what you want to happen. however, a very simple way to get a semi-decent 3D effect is to use the 'Spherize' filter (Filters > Distort > Spherize)

Go on a scavenger hunt for PLUG-INS . . . such as Eye Candy . . . and double check them for viruses right when you dl them!
