    Unhappy Average Download/Upload Speed?

what is the average download/upload speed of:

    64k
    cable
    dsl

i'm using 6m isdn, but my download/upload speed is always between 40-55k/bps, is it abnormal?
how can i increase the speed?

    It depends....

....on who you are downloading from what the provider is limiting you to,and your settings.

WhenMx is not a good place to test your speed. Go to PC pitstop and perform an upload/download test. They also have several tweaks you can download to max your speed.

    download bandwidth test results:
    transmission speed: 572 kb/s

    upload bandwidth test results:
    upload speed: 248 kb/s

so, if isp is limiting the speed, is it still possible to change???

no ChamCham you can't change it unless you pay them more or in some area's you are just stuck with it, and don't uncap your modem cause you will lose your internet and get sued

Well I have comcast and I get 380-410KB thats kiloBYTEs not bits. And uploading is usually between 25-31KB a sec. I downloaded the Knoppix CD iso a couple days ago and its 700MB and it took alomst exactly 30 mins.

If the question is whats everyone's dl/ul speed... mine is:
    4.5 mbit/down
    512 kbit/up
    It's $42.95/month

As for the problem of your speed, there is nothing you can do about it.The speed you have you are stuck with, unless you want to pay more.
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):

    ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
    AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
    Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)
2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM
2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
    Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer

    Also sporting a black MacBook
    Revision/Release 1
    Upgraded to 2GB RAM.

yeah, I use charter as my backup connection...good speed but their news server sucks ass...3mb/s don't mean dick when you can only dl from the newsgroups at 256k. I use verizon for my daily newsgroup feeding. The charter connection is just for p2p.

    I have 56k.

    Download Speeds...3-6kb/s
    Upload Speeds...1-2kb/s

Its not so bad for just mp3s but movies take forever so I just use my friends cable to download big shit.
