    www.peerweb.org gone, RIP

On October 7th 2003, the United States Congress passed bill HR 2517 which granted the Federal Bureau of Investigation the un-obscured right to effectively pursue and prosecute those suspected of illegal activity by sharing of copyrighted materials via "Peer-to-Peer" network services.

As of March 31st 2004, the FBI Copyright Enforcement Division, in co-operation with local and state law enforcement agencies, has removed the following site and domain from prior ownership and active service:

    peerweb.org

The person(s) or organisation(s) involved with the aforementioned site are being investigated under suspicion of a persistent violation of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA).

This domain will be revoked for an indefinite period of time as the investigation proceeds. For more information on the DMCA, click here. For more information on the FBI, please visit our homepage.

sigh...and this time it's not fake, like Sharelive's is :(

umm...this is the only one I know of that's actually gone down...Sharelive is up...read my post in that thread...but this one has no links like that...and anyway, you wouldn't have said that when about 50 websites closed down in conjunction with sharereactor going down, would you have?

like jigle.com and many other websites

It was clever once. Anyone can see through this bullshit now.

Yeah MoonMan, it doesn't have the effect on people who have been around for a few years... My understanding of the sharelive, peerweb, ect.. thing was that there where suppost to be more sites in on it..making it seem a bit more real. And small % of a lot of users of these sites regular forum boards and such. I know zeropaid, UTC, and suprnova had both claimed to be on board at one point and backed out.
