I loved that place. If you couldn't find what you were looking for on the main page, it was in the forums.

Sharereactor was the best for dvd-r, applications and games by a long way. You could always forgive it for being slow or occasionally unobtainable because it was such a vast resource...and the quality of the releases was unmatched. I don't think I ever had a bad link or a download that was fake or didn't work. The DivX/Xvid section was pretty good but lately i got bored of picking my way thru all the foreign language releases.
I miss it already, tho I know there are archived webpages with links that can be used it's a pity we won't be seeing any more of those verified sharereactor links released.
I find Fileheaven.org better for movies and pretty good for games and applications but for now it isn't taking any new members...I guess some legal worries and also being wary of a huge influx of people from sharereactor killing the servers.

One of the great things about these link sites is you can learn so much about the different applications/OS's out there and try lots of stuff. It isn't only about getting it for free. Being able to experience a huge range of software is great, and financially without p2p it would be for the millionaires only. I've gone from being someone who had trouble keeping my purchased PC running to someone who has a sweetly running self built PC and does repairs/maintainance/upgrades/installations for people (no I don't sell pirated software..I sell my ability) and people appreciate when I can make their machine run sweeter than it ever did after taking it to their local PC store for fixes. I learn a lot of stuff here at ZP reading stuff by Krell and others and a lot by just trying things for myself.

And I've seen a hell of a lot of movies too. :angel

btw shareconnector is still up, it's just the front page which has a problem. Click on the forum link and all is ok.

The question is, who DIDN'T go to sharereactor? Or at least download a copy of something "originating" from there.

Yes i used it (A LOT) And it will be missed. But the doomsayers saying nothing will ever replace it are ignoring reality. Something better ALWAYS comes along to fill in the absence. Napster being shut down was one of the best things for file sharing. It spurred developement of newer better ideas and programs. The same will happen with sharereactor. The torch has been passed.

As much as sharereactor is gone it can still be put to use. I personally have found that if you use shareaza and search under all file types using sharereactor as your keyword you will get 50,000+ sharereactor verified files. All you have to do to find the one you want is use the filter.

Yeah, i got quite a bit of stuff from them. I think the best part was trying out games. There were a bunch of racing games that I had considered buying. After downloading and playing them, I'm glad I didn't pay anything. The good ones however I've rented for PS2.

Its also what I got busted using...heh.
