Okay, I am finally going to ask about something that has been making me yank my hair out with WinMx for awhile. This is regarding the tendency for my download sources to timeout somewhere during the long wait for the transfer to start. I have watched a user with such a name, JackH_123 as an example, start at 86 and get to 34. Later I come back and I am 94th in line because of a timeout and a subsequent rediscovery of this person the next time winmx looks for sources for that file. Sometimes I will actually see it happen, the name will go red and it will say "Timeout". Funny thing is I can click on retry and nine times out of ten I will get my place in line back. I wish I knew how to solve this problem. WinMX does not have an auto-retry for timeout downloads. I wish it did. I use MX Monitor but unfortunately this is one of the few things it will not do either. My question is, is there a patch or program that can automate this? Any input would be appreciated.
I believe what you are referring to may be the "WinMX Mystery" (http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=19063) if I am not mistaken. I never had any problems so I ignored the post, but you might try looking there to see if it's similiar. Good luck
Oh, and welcome to ZeroPaid! Hope you'll stay a while :)

Timeouts are alot better then a spanking and being grounded schizobion.. Count your blessing, kids who download music illegally get whooped, or to the older generations like ourselfs.. A timeout was when your father took time out of his day to whoop on your a$$..
Uhh.. Shawners... that made NO sense whatsoever.Originally Posted by shawners

-Negative, no small files downloaded from me in large quantity. No MX Mystery here... The reason for the timeout is probably caused by the bad connection to certain hosts/sources (too many =<56K ppl running a primary connection when they should use secondary or get broadband). My concern is the way WinMX gives up so easily when there is no immediate reply after checking in for my queue position. If it retried once or twice instead of kicking the file into the red list most of the time I wouldn't have two-month old incomplete files going to the end of the line over and over again. (You know the little button on top "Retry", Like I said, all I need to do is press this and alot of times the remote host has not droppped me from his list and the WinMX running on my side will see this and keep it blue. I can't be here always so...) Maybe this should go under the catagory "Things to be included in the next version".
You could be on ignore. If a person is ignoring you, your download will timeout. Mxmoni will do this alot. Try sending a message and see if it returns the ignored user message.
Hard as ever and here to make you people believe...as long as there is one person to hold hope and dream...A GOD...will never die!
