    dvd burner

A friend of mine wants to burn dvd's from television movies. What's a good practical unit to buy? Should it have a hard-drive? He's not a techie. Thanks for any help you can give.

Does he have a TV-tuner on his PC's video card? He'll need one, unless he's going to hack a Tivo or somesuch. Anyway, almost any DVD burner will work. Purchase one from a reliable brand, like Pioneer, Sony, or LiteON.

I failed to mention in my post that my friend doesn't want to include his PC in the loop. He just wants to make copies of movies on DVD directly from his TV.
