    Winmx stops my pc reconnecting

When I first turn on my pc it automatically connects to the internet, then if I need to I run winmx and carry on with downloads. If I get disconnected while winmx is running, my pc is then unable to reconnect. When I press Ctrl-Alt-Del it says 'connecting to supanet not responding' so I end task and the connction box disappears and winmx automatically closes. After this no matter what I do I cannot get reconnected and have to restart my pc. This didn't used to happen and I have tried uninstalling winmx and then redownloading and reinstalling it but still the same thing happens. Very occassionally it will reconnect which is odd. I have problems with my connection when winmx isn't running.
Anyone know how I can fix this?

I have never seen an instance where a broadband user actually NEEDED that shitty software their ISP provides to connect to the internet.

Now, please tell me you arent suggesting Dial Up.

You dont need "supa" anything, for broadband, you need a DSL or Cable modem, and preferable a Network Interface Card.

In your Windows, which you didnt state, you need a Network connection, where the TCP\IP is set to "Obtain an IP Address Automatically"

You call your ISP . . . and tell them I SAID to dig your ass out of this mess. And if you still own that ISP CD, burn it.

I also have a sneaky suspicion that you dont have a properly configured Firewall, and that if youre XP, you dont have the Services configured correctly, and the proper Service Packs.

Work on getting a solid always-on-no-bullshit-no-isp-help connection, then lets tackle the rest.

Report back more about your O/S, the way you connect etc etc

Btw . . .. my honest opinion too, go find a guru around somewhere, that can actully do hands on with this. Pay them, and be glad you did.

I'm running windows me, and have had my firewall longer than winmx and didn't have this problem when I first started using winmx. And yes I have a dial up connection, what's wrong with that?

I would uninstall the supanet stuff, and uninstall everything related to dial up networking. REBOOT, Then reinstall your networking, and if it asks you if you want to replace the file blah blah, say YES.

Now go to the DUN Folder, and make a new Connectiod, and name it "Dial Up Sucks", enter the information that you need. Also make sure that your port is set to 115,200 and not like 9600.

Youre ME, and dial up, this is as far as I am willing to go

    cheers
