Ok here's a question for all you Nero buffs out there. Im trying to copy some tv shows over to a DVD so I can watch them on my DVD player. So, I load up NeroVision and click 'make DVD.' Now I want to get a lot of video on the DVD so I click video option and set the quality settings to Super long play - and it says I can record about 360 minutes worth of video. So now I go back and start adding my videos. But I can only get about 160 minutes or so of videos in. Whats going on? How can I fit more on the DVD? Is there any way that I can reduce the video quality even more? Can I burn at VCD quality to a DVD? Thanks.
Well, ok. It doesnt even have to be with Nero. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to get more than 4 episodes on a DVD? There has to be I each DVD has 4.7gb. Isnt there any way to make a huge VCD on a DVD or something? Thanks.
Your DVD player supports MPEG files? What kind is it? Does it also support AVI - or did you have to use MPEG files in DVD format?

do yourself a favor and buy the "Kiss" DVD-Divx-Xvid player....it supports every file format there is! i know it saved me a lot of time going through that Nero process....all you have to do is burn as Data DVD and there you will have the movies at no time.Originally Posted by Vandetta

If you don't feel like putting out the money for a new player, your player will play the files if they are re-encoded to mpeg-1/modified vcd. The advantage to this is that you can fit 450 minutes on one dvd. All you need to do is grab a copy of tmpgenc from www.tmpgenc.net when you go to re-encode the files choose mpeg-1 as the output format and instead of using vcd 44.1 hz for the audio use 48 hz which your player can recognize on dvd. When nero complains that it isn't a standard file just click to proceed anyway. Do not click for nero to reencode the file. You just did that. Once Nero's done just pop it into your player and enjoy. Any player will be able to play this disc even if it doesn't support vcd because every player supports this little known method. Simple Answer:
You just have to click Video Options in Nero Vision Express and change the bitrate from Automatic to Manual.
(see screenshot below)
Then just do the math and type in the appropriate bitrate to allow you to fit the length of video you want. If you don't like the math part you can download a handy bitrate calculator to do it for you.

CompuGeek: Thats what I initially tried to do, however I couldnt get the bit rate any lower on custom than when it was set to super long play. It doesnt seem that nero will allow anything lower than 1691 kbit/s. I also couldnt change the audio format, it was blanked out for me for some reason?
Ack! Ok, this isnt working. I tried doing what you said Miniver but I got an error on my dvd player. I guess Im not doing it right. That program you pointed me to is pretty confusing too. Do you have a tutorial or anything on how to do what you talked about? Thanks.
You're right; there seems to be an absolute lower limit for video bitrate. It's 1691 kb/s in Nero Vision Express and it's 2000 kb/s in TMPGEnc Plus.
