Hi everyone,
I've read most of the posts and I know a service that might be of help to you guys. Check out this site:
You can use the service to send and share large files up to 1GB for FREE
Thought this might be useful....
What the....
Is it free?!
no email account can hold that much. What the hell are you talking about? Is this some rip off?
Thats what it says - 1GB. Whose gonna try it out, first? :)
I think its a scam. Who dares to try it? Just proxy yourself up (HTTP and HTTPS) before trying it, just in case.
.
" I rode into Salt Lake City prepared to do my journalistic duty and arouse the public ire against polygamy. However, when I saw how ugly were the Mormon women, I realized that the men who marry, not one, but many of them, are Latter Day Saints indeed and deserving of the praise and gratitude of all mankind." Mark Twain
Sounds to good to be true,.....
If it walks like a duck, and so on.
Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be.
Yes sounds like a company that is scanning for pirated works over their "service"
1GB is alot for a company with not much of a financial backing, just how is it that they get money?
Government funding? Probably looking for kiddy movies to bust some ass over the internet.
"The YouSendIt team got together to tackle a common problem: the rapid exchange of sizeable data online without the use of clumsy client software, ail servers with limited storage space and sharing passwords.
Recognizing that email is still the most preferred method of sending files, all the remained was getting around the constraints placed on web-based email systems before sending could begin.
Founded in early 2003 in Silicon Valley, the YouSendIt team brings together countless years of software development, hardware design, and raw creativity to fill real-world needs. We are committed to providing solutions to the toughest problems through innovation, solid engineering, and the highest quality of service.
We hope that our efforts help you meet your goals, online and elsewhere, and look forward to working with you for years to come."
Still in the "About Us" it does not really say how they exactly started out, people dont give away this kind of bandwidth for free because they would run out of money awfully quick.
Upon further research it seems the free part of the service offers 5mb uploads. You upload to there server and it sends the link to whoever your sending it to, they then download it. The pay service is for up to 2 gigs or whatever they said.
I don't think it's a scam and found a few others doing a variation on the same thing.
This one looked interesting: http://dropload.com the other one did not limit the downloads, they expired in I think they said 7 days, dropload expires after 2 days or one download.
The only reason to be paranoid is if you plan on doing something very wrong now huh? ;-P
Just cuz i found this while researching: http://www.mailinator.com/
it does not share files, its a way to create a temp email address that self destructs. check it out, kinda cool.
