    lphant V0.02 is released !!

lphant is a new eDonkey client written in C# : V0.02 is just released
It supports all eMule extensions and all 16.44 server extensions (zlib,...)

The project main task is to write an eDonkey client written in c# using the .NET framework.
The Kernel will be a separate .NET object (dll),
thus Interface and Kernel separate code will allow remote controlling,
running as a service, custom interfaces, and will allow other developers
to make easily new eDonkey clients using any programming language
supported by .NET without having to implement the eDonkey protocol,
simply by using the lPhant .NET Kernel object

lPhant allows remoting, has different skins and is multilingual.

assuming that you are in some way connected with the creators of this beast (its a pretty good assumption, since your pimping a program and only have two posts), i have a question:

why C#? as you stated, it requires .net, which in itself its 100+ MB. alternatively, java - the language C# was modelded after - doesnt require such a hefty library, and can be easily ported to other platforms. besides, most people already have JRE on their computer, but very few have .net

    .Net

I hope 'FeuerFrei' know that when overnet was first released (it was called Flock) also required .Net and early versions of ED2K+Overnet also required .Net framework.
But people did not like the Idea of downloading a 25MB+ .net framework to use Ed2k. Those versions were the biggest flop.

Are you sure u wanna use .Net to write a P2P?

C# is a new language. So why not learn a new language to create an eDonkey client ? I know "Floch-Overnet" and that people didn't like .Net

C# can be compile on Linux, so it's really interesting.

C# needs .Net : OK. But it only 25Mb to download and may be 100Mb on hard disk when now you can buy 180GB !. If people does not like .Net it's only because M$.

Java is ok too, but i prefere .Net for client application. And you can install Java and .Net on the same machine...

Next Windows will include .Net (2003 already have) so we are in advance :p
