I have been using e-mule for some monthe and was getting around 2-10k/s down with 10k/s up. Is this as good as it gets or can it be optimised if so how. thanks for the help

I used Emule for about a month. The download speeds were so poor I just uninstalled it! Too bad because it has alot of Rare Files!!! Oh well!!

Look in the log on the servers tab. If you see a message about your port being unreachable then you will get faster downloads by configuring your firewall, NAT router or connection sharing system.

Set your upload speed to about 80% of your connections capacity. If you can upload faster you will
see a benifit from the credit system, paticularly on large files.

The download speed depends on the popularity of the files you are downloading. If you are downloading files with less than 10 sources then an upload to download ratio of 2:1 is normal.

    Edit: typo

thanks there doesn't seem to be a problem with the ports I gues it is just the number of available sources which platform is fastest for movies?

    real solution :

    1) the right config for ur connection. (about a thousand guides out there)
    2) uploading like theres no tomorrow. u'll run through the queues in no time
    3) if ur DL'ing rare files with few sources, contact the sharerers 4 friendupload or setting the file to release
    4) set that files to high priority
    5) latest version of original emule (emule-project.net)

Yes, if your connection can do more than that.

Your computer has to send some data upstream to acknoledge downloaded data so you need you upload set to a bit less than your connections capacity.

Overnet is faster then emule but some of the more rare or less popular files you might need to use emule.I remember i got a file from sharereactor and so i tryed overnet and i couldent find any sources. So i went to emule and found some.I will really say give overnet a try and see if you like it .I would say only use emule only when you cant get a file in overnet.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

And to answer "stumpmymonkey" 's question: Yes, emule uses the same network as the donkey, but has no ads, and is open source, thus allowing for many more features.
