Connecting to MP2P

I like to try out all the different P2P aplications just for kicks. I've gotten them all to work on my system EXCEPT for any application that connects to MP2P. I've tried Piolet and Rocketnet, and I get the same situtation: it just says "connecting" but never connects. So, what's with this? Do I need to change the port numbers or something? I am behind a fire wall, (Zone Alarm) but I get the same thing happening even when I turn it off. Comcast cable is my IP. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Are you behind a router? If so, you must forward ports in it, or put your self into a DMZ (de-militarized zone)

If you are, tell us so, and we'll give you more help on how to do that. MP2P is THE hardest P2P application to get to work for many people, do don't feel bad.

Maybe someone can help me too, then...I have a Netgear 802.11b Wireless Router...MR814...and I really want to use piolet/blubster/etc....I have tried forwarding ports...but it doesnt seem to work for TCP or UDP Apps...I've also tried it for BT, but I have usu. 30 KB/s download speed there, so that's not a worry...but I really wanna use UDP and connections thereof...please someone help us!

Ok, I've attached a screenshot of my router's (Mircrosoft Wireless B Broadband Router) port forwarding section.. going by the red numbers...

1. Inbound port - this is the port range the program will use. Make sure this matched up with the program you are trying to get to work.
2. Port type - Either TCP, or UDP, you decide.
3. Private IP address -- make sure this is yours. On my network, im 192.168.2.16, so I put 16 in the private IP address spot. YOURS MAY BE/PROBABLY IS DIFFERENT.
4. Private port - use the same #'s as 1.

Then apply, and hope!

Well for me, my router's IP address is 192.168.2.1 --- you just simply type that into your web browser. This may be different for you, if you have a different brand. 192.168.2.1 is the default local IP in all Microsoft Routers.

er um, the default in microsoft routers are 192.168.0.1, i kno, i have 1, factory defaults baby
