New to this stuff. Overnet searches like lightning, but may require days to download a document, ebook, etc. Music is much better, but also much shorter. What's up with this?
Can this be tweaked?
it depends on the rarity and availability of the items you download...try looking for items with more than one source...newer releases are more popular and more people share those...the more people who have what you want or are currently in the process of downloading what you want..increases your chances of getting it faster and at better speeds.Originally Posted by tagottlieb
i forgot the definition of a 'rare' file..but i think it means something that is in scarce quantities or difficult to find...it's a common trait among all p2p programs...sometimes you have to just accept the fact that what you want may not be popular with the crowd on certain p2p programs.
the internet is a big place...i'm sure you can find someone who share's your passion for whatever it is you want to get...don't give up on looking or searching for what you want...don't limit yourself to any one filesharing program...try others..you may find it available on another network..good to have choices and selections.
according to your post count you seem to be new here...so welcome to zeropaid..hope u like it here.

I find overnet is best for large files 200mb+ and for small files such as mp3s, your much better using kazaa lite.
You need to have at least 50 sources on overnet to get a reasonable download speed quickly.
Visit filesyouneed.com - keeping an eye on file sharing Portal offering ed2k links etc.
well if you are using overnet you can't really be in a rush for the file, if you want something fast use fasttrack but you got to remember with any client you are at risk

Umm kyle... when I was downloading a certain file, about 700 MB, I think you know what im talking about :D, I got a steady 200 KB/s after about 10 minutes. Most of my files I get at least 50 KB/s for.Originally Posted by Kyle06

Agree totally with Hawkburn. Overnet is the fastest p2p client I have ever used but the network is made up of people sharing different stuff than you are looking for....but it also seems to have more people with hi speed connections than the rest of the ed2k community. For docs, ebooks and individual mp3 tracks you probably will be better off on fastrack or G2. If you want Games, complete CDs, DVDs, OS ISOs then Overnet flies....Kazaalite used to use maybe 55KBs of my 64KBs down cable, emule tops out at a little over 50 and Overnet can sit there for days at 64KBs! Can't get any faster than downloading at 100% capacity.....
If you want to stay on the ed2k network you could try Shareaza which connects to ed2k and G2. I have no idea how well sorted this client is, it might be worth a look. I tried it around a year ago but it had major problems connecting to the ed2k servers properly....but a year is a long time in the p2p world, probably everything could be ok by now.
