confused: do I need to connect to more than 1 server?

I'm new to emule and I can't seem to figure out the answer to this Q from all the help files etc:

emule has a server list. In order to search all the files on the network, do I need to connect to any 1 server, or all the servers?

just one, the server vil do the rest.

Just connect to one but some of the best servers wont let you connect if you got a low id, or just use Overnet instead i personally find it much better than edonkey/emule and its decentralised so you dont have to mess about connecting to servers :)

"best server"? why are some servers better than others?

The ones with more users connected like Razorback etc

thanks that site was a little helpful....
but why do some servers have "more connected users" than others if you only need one server to connect to the network?

basically what I want to know is how can I search all the files that all users are sharing on the entire network?

with mldonkey u can connect to more than 1 servers. though i can be wrong
