According to the court documents CRIA contracted out the data collection to a New York company called MediaSentry Inc. They are the ones who scoured the P2P networks and recorded the info.

There are 2 sworn affidavits included with each brief, one signed by a Gary Millin who is the president of Media Sentry. He also founded Mail.com (now Easylink Services) and also worked for Consumer Venture Partners which I'm guessing is a private VC firm. The other affidavit is signed by Kathy Yonekura who is the anti-piracy co-ordinator for CRIA.

CRIA said it was only going after egrarious users with more than 3000 songs shared however according to the court documents some had around 900 songs, another had around 1500 so I'm not sure if the papers misstated that number or if it was untrue.

You can get them from the Federal court in Toronto.

They'll wheel the whole court document out for you on a wooden cart!

All fasttrack. the industry seems to have a personal problem with that network.

fasttrack is the biggest and most famous of all the p2p networks so it;s logical to go after them 1st.

But not all users use kazaa, but it is the one with all the lawsuits.
Kazaa is in disarray now. Job done. Surely it makes sense to go after the big sharers who educate themselves.
That sounds like I'm encouraging it! lol

It was no link. I believe he went to the Federal Court in Toronto and obtained them.

Whew . I checked the list and I'm not on it. So far so good. I heard that several of the Internet Providers were fighting the CRIA in court and refusing to provide the names and addresses of their subcribers . Hopefully they will continue to fight this.
I had also heard that in some cases in the United States, some of the alleged evidence they tried to produce about persons downloading files from the internet was not accurate and that some persons who had never downloaded any files from the internet were falsely accused of file sharing . Anyone have any more information on these cases. It may come in handy for us Canadian file sharers .

When are these morons going to realize that this is not something they can't just make go away . Once the technology is here, it won't disappear. Learn to adapt or
    perish !!!!

pretty safe in my opponion. They will not sue you over one file, and it's not that likely they will be able to get a complete list of your files officiently, since most p2p programs search different nods everytime the user starts a search.
