I thought I'd lend my hand in offering computer help to people having trouble. I know quite a bit about device connectivity and blah blah blah (just don't ask me Win 2000 or NT specific questions, those are the two OS's I haven't used much).
I'll try to get back to everyone's post as fast as I can.

:fire Good idea Music man, I just got into computers a year ago and this would have saved a lot of grief. As a old fart just getting into this it might as well be Greek at times. PS enjoy your posts, and mods are doing a good job.
Thanks, all I need now is a customer.

:black I have a good one for you. A friend has 2k pro and it worked fine, he was on cable and he changed to dsl. After the change he cant send files on MSN just rec. So he wiped the sys and reloaded but it had the same problem, and it seems to be getting worse, because tonight his yahoo wont send or rec files.
Whatever the problem is it seems to be degrading quickly. He shut down norton, and his security settings in win are the same as mine.
Although, I haven't used win 2000 before (read my first post) I might have some help for you, I just need some details.
First of all when you say "rec" you mean record right?
When he "wiped his sys" did he completly reboot his computer (star over fresh)?

wiped sys = re-installed windows.
:mellow Buzz
Actaully, without being there, there's not much I could help you with. I was going to say that he might've unistalled .dll files required when he took out the cable (when stuff is uninstalling it usually asks if you want to delete a file that is has determined no other program is using, never hit yes), but you said you rebooted/reinstalled windows, so I;m not too sure exactly what happened. Maybe if you give me more specs of your comp I can figure it out, especailly internet config settings.

ive not used dsl as its not big in my country but i know its slightly different to cable as its not shared bandwith (from what my mates say).
if your using a router then the ip which shows when you connect to websites etc is the router ip, which isnt your computer id therefore files wont send.
if you can give me some more details regarding what hardware your using and how you got your computer set up to the net i could help more.
I think we scared off the customer. :wings

Can I upload my own custom avatar so it appears when I post on the forum instead of the little dragon thing?
Also out of curiousity what file sharing program do you personally use?
Well, I can answer your first question for you:You need 10 posts before you can have a custom avatar. Then just go to your User CP, Edit Options, and scroll down to the bottom of the page to change your avatar. Can I upload my own custom avatar so it appears when I post on the forum instead of the little dragon thing?
I intend to live forever. So far so good.
Why thank you Mr Sabbath.
I'll start making something nice in Maya 4 then :cross
Yes it's completely possible (seems Sabbath already answered you, errrrr...) I personally use KaZaA Lite or sometimes Gnucleus, they're both really great.

Thanx for the insight Mr MusicMan
BTW is Gnucleus the server type like Gnutella or is that the name of the client?
If it isn't the name of the client could you reccommend a good one for me?
Thanx =D
I hate to be stepping on MusicMan's toes (send me a PM if you want this to be your personal Help Desk), but i cant let a question go unanswered.
Gnucleus is in fact the name of a client for the Gnutella network. It is open source, and the program upon which Morpheus and MyNapster are based.
