I have a Chaintech 7NJS ZENITH Ultra motherboard. It has onboard ide/sata raid. Now i have 2 wd 120gb hard drives. When i try to setup raid with 2 ide drives, only 1 drive is detected.
Taken from chaintech's site:
"Q: Can IDE3 support two IDE hard drives for RAID function?
A: No, You can connect only one master HDD on IDE3. It's same for two SATA. Each SATA can have only one master HDD. FastTrak 376 supports RAID0 or RAID1 for master device only."
What does this mean? That i can only have 1 hard drive raided? Or i have to have 1 on the raid controller and 1 on the primary ide channel?
SHHHH!!!......my yeast is rising....
Why Don;t you put the two drives on seperate channels. (IE: One on a cable from from Mobo port, one on another cable from another mobo port. Both drives would be set to master this way.) If you want them on the same channel, make sure the drives are set to #1: Master and #2: Slave ; OR Set BOTH to Cable Select. I have two RAID controllers in my server, and I is a pain to configure.
