AMD Cpu Not Showing correct speed in Windows. Off by a GIG!

what do i do? it's an athlon 3000+ 400Mhz FSB. and in my BIOS it shows a 100Mhz FSB and in windows only says it's 1.05Ghz! i have an award BIOS. i looked to try to change frequency but it only goes to 132Mhz for FSB frequency. WTF do i do? help pleeease.

i found the manual. and i have the correct speed now. but now i cant even start windows. it blue screens. everytime. i got into safe mode once but it crashed soon. my board is a soyo kt600 dragon plus. i have the jumpers set right for the cpu. first time i started up after setting those it was ok. then it crashed.

What kind of RAM do you have? You need PC3200 to use that processor.

What kind of Heatsink/Fan do you have? Did it come with a thermal pad on it or did you use thermal paste?

Can you boot into safe mode?

Checked out the windows KB this STOP error is usually a result of:

CAUSE
This behavior can occur if one of the following conditions is true:
One or more of the random access memory (RAM) modules that are installed on your computer are faulty.
The RAM configuration is incompatible with Windows XP.
RESOLUTION
To troubleshoot and resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
Remove some of the memory modules that are installed on the computer. Leave at least the amount of RAM required for the computer to start and run Windows XP.

The recommended amount of RAM to run Windows XP is 128 megabytes (MB). The minimum is 64 MB and the maximum is 4 gigabytes.

For example, if two 256-MB memory modules are installed on your computer, remove one of the memory modules.
Restart the computer, and then run Setup.
If you again receive the error message that is described in the "Symptoms" section of this article, proceed to step 4.
Remove a different memory module, or install the RAM in a different memory slot.
Restart your computer, and then rerun Setup.

You may need to restart your computer several times in order to identify the specific memory modules that are not working correctly.

Did you mess with any of the memory timings? Try resetting the BIOS to the Setup Defaults.

Try taking out one or the other memory modules like the MSKB suggests to see if it is defective.

If all else fails, try downloading the latest BIOS update for your motherboard and flash it by following the manufacturer's instructions VERY CAREFULLY.
