Tutorial For Creating Your Own Peer-To-Peer Network

Just thought this tutorial I whipped up might be useful to anyone looking to start their own P2P network.

I recently started a moderated P2P network for people who create MP3s a certain way (high quality, full albums). It's been great, we already have over 100 people sharing over 500 gigs of music, and it's nice to know that everything you're getting is top-notch.

Maybe someone here wants to make a network for Ogg Vorbis users? Or MPC users? Or lossless compression users? Or whatever!

Hey Kids, Wanna Start Your Own Peer-To-Peer Network?

In the old days (pre-2000) one had to rely on the services of Napster, Kazaa, AudioGalaxy, and Morpheus to join in on the file-sharing fun.

Now that they're being pegged off one by one, many people are creating their OWN peer-to-peer networks and it couldn't be easier.

Anyone with an Internet connection and the free Direct Connect Hub software can start their own network!

Then, people with the Direct Connect Client can connect to you. You can also create private hubs, which are account based with passwords, and completely moderate your network, keeping only the users you want!

OGG vorbis hub would be nice =D

Oh btw on your site you said pre-2000... you mean pre-2002? When you say start your own network, it's confusing. It sounds like making your own protocol. That's what I first thought when I read this thread.
