    Can't find network connection

I am not a computer buff and have med to low computer knowledge. Having said that..... WinMX use to work perfectly prior to upgrading to Windows XP. I have removed and reinstalled numerous times. The download is fine but when I try to connect to WinMX my computer is unable to find network connection. It just stays on the first pages blinking a yellow box at me. WHY.....I have been told that it is the XP firewall. I have enabled and disable the firewall but with no progress. Other people talk about routers.... I don't know what they are.

I am sorry to appear completely simple... BUT I really love WinMX and it is an awful existence without it.

    PLEASE HELP ME.

I thought you used that by default? Well it does on mine anyway... but anyway a router is a small box, usually with many indicator lights that may be on or off at any given time. You could try going to 192.168.2.1 in your web browser, but if you do have a router, it might use a different set of local IP addresses.

Yes, what mike said is true if it isnt already enabled - use a secondary connection. You can select this below the red yellow and green lights on the WinMX main connection screen. Good luck.
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):

    ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
    AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
    Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)
2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM
2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
    Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer

    Also sporting a black MacBook
    Revision/Release 1
    Upgraded to 2GB RAM.

    still no luck, eh?

if the secondary connection fails, and you have your firewalls fixed up correctly to no avail, you might try opennap.

you can get a nice program here:
    http://perso.wanadoo.fr/speedfire/napmx/
that will fix you up with a nice list of servers you can connect to in winmx. It'll load them in for you, and once loaded all you have to do in winmx to connect would be to doubleclick the servers you want.
The queues won't be any better (you have to try and download the file before you know how far you are down the line, if there is a line) but in my opinion a good server is better than the wpnp anyday. try several of servers with the most files and see what happens.

The default on my computer is a 'Seconday Connection'. It will not allow any other option.
