I know this is a very n00bie-ish question but I was just courious.
Do you need a DVD burner to burn something onto a blank DVD?
Meaning, can I buy a DVD-RW and burn data onto it with just my regular old CD-RW drive and have it work?
Like I said, I'm just curious.
You need a dvd burner to burn on a blank dvd. It wont work with a cd-rw.
Oh, well that kinda sucks. Thanks for a speedy replies.
Oh, before I forget, can a blank DVD be used for an audio CD? Once again, I'm just curious.
I dont know but im pretty sure you cant. Which Blank Dvd's cost a lot more than a blank CD-r.. It would make much more sense to use a cd-r.Originally Posted by Sk8er Boi

Blank DVD's hold a ton more space than a cd-r though.
Seph has a point too, cd-r's are way cheaper.

If you have a DVD burner you can ue DVD's for regular back ups though right?
Also, would an mp3 CD player be able to read the files on a DVD if you used it to burn only mp3's?
Pretty sure ya can. Just larger data discs I think.Originally Posted by Sk8er Boi

I wouldn't think so, because an MP3 "CD" is not a "DVD" disc. Also, would an mp3 CD player be able to read the files on a DVD if you used it to burn only mp3's?
I would assume it can only read "CDs".

I've never seen one claiming to read dvd's, it's too different. I haven't heard of a Dvd player playing an mp3dvd either, although it would be more likely.Originally Posted by Sk8er Boi
