I just installed a new DVD drive "Super Multi DVD Writer"GSA-4040B but I am having problems with it...
When i go to Add new Hardware and checks if its working fine..everything seems okay and it shows on my Computer that there is a DVD drive installed..It doesnt take long though till everything disappears even in the listed installed hardwares it disappears.....I have put the drive where the CD drive was, so it means I am having Two DVD drives..I dont know if there is a conflicting problem or what....could someone please help..i will appreciate.
Thanks inAdvance

if they are on the same IDE cable, make sure one drive's jumper is set to Master and the other is set to Slave.
you can usually find jumper setting diagrams on stickers on the drives themselves.

but seriously...
read the manual, or check the sticker on the new drive...and set it to "Slave" or "Secondary"
whatever they call it now :)

Most new drives have a CSEL jumper\switch in the back. Set both drives to csel and the computer figures out which drive is master and slave. You can only have one master, and one slave per each ide cable.Originally Posted by netzero20001
If you have both drives as "D:" then change one of the drive properties in windows to "E" or another free drive letter.
put all drives to csel and it is an easy install.
Good luck.

Thanx Guys for the help..I managed to resolve the problem. I did a stupid thing putting all the drive on Master..Thanks for pointing that out..so everything is now cool....I really appreciate your help guys. keep up the good work..
