seems that when i run abc the net drags a little, the transfer rates are very low, but it still slows the net down.. is this just me? anyone have an good experience with a quick client thats easy on the net?

if you limit your upload speed to just under what you are capable of uploading, you will notice a significant speed increase in your web browsing while torrents are running.
i'm not sure if ABC has this functionality built in, but if it doesn't you can try NetLimiter

My network used to have problems with ABC slowing the net down. What colour are your torrents? If you have connection issues ABC seems to slow the whole net down and that would explain your slow transfers. Check this thread:

damn... I was like wtf? how is a cable station going to make the internet slow? ... I just woke up... no classes for me on Fridays this semester... don't mind me
Ok, i have tried most other clients.. and all of them either eat resources or crash left and right, other than ABC, shadows was cool, but nothing that im looking for in a client. Anyhow, im d/l 1 file in abc, 130k down and 3kup and my net is dragging a bit, my connections are all green, i hav ports forwarded , yadda yadda yadda... Im wondering what this thing is actually doing too slow down my net, its definatly not the tranfer.... does this thing connect too like a million peers at once that it doenst tell you about or something?

Well how fast is your connection? If I was downloading at 130k, my internet would also be running slowly!
Since you said that it isn't the transfer I'm not sure.
You can see the number of people that you are connected to by double clicking on the torrent line.

Never used ABC, but I know in shadow you can limit how many peers you're connected to, and how much your upstream is.
I do find it hard to believe that would be killing your connection at those speeds. Do you have a firewall (like a router, or software). Running any blocklist programs like PG?

ABC is built on Shad0w. If one has it the other does! The idea of ABC was to add a queuing system to Shad0w. Perhaps as the clients have gone their own ways this isn't so true.Originally Posted by phalkon30
Maximum number of peers is set to unlimited by default. The option can be found under ABC Preference -> Advance setting
