my DVD rom drive does not work, i've checked and it says its working ok... but it is not... i cant do anything without it... it would be great if ANYONE could help me!! thank you

Does the door open, test this frist.
Does it see any CD or DVD, use a DVD head clearer if no. If that doesn't work check the cables on the DVD drive. If they are right then you might have a dead DVD drive.
If it new return it, else get a new one.

have you used or installed/uninstalled roxio easy cd creator? cause that fucked my drives up, and the tech support guy had to help me edit the registry to fix it.

Well, this has happened to me and I think you might have to consider getting a new one. All you can do is the basic, check to make sure the cables are plugged in properly, than uninstall the drive and re-install it, also try getting the latest drivers for it.
Is there power to the unit?
Are your jumper settings correct?
Does your OS recognize it? (device manager, in Windows)
Did you install drivers?
Just basic things for you to go over yourself first.
You can't triple stamp a double stamp.
