I ran ad-aware and got rid of quite abit of ads.. still having ads popup.. But now i cant open Internet explorer, i cant reinstall it, theirs no way to uninstall it..> My system restore point did not show up or i cant get back past oct.. it wont let me restore at the daily checkpoints either or before sertain things got installed. My wife likes using it, and NETSCAPE freezes when i use adobe or look at PDF FILES.
So if i click on a internet html on my desktop, it will open it, and say closing down, error.. and nothing i can do about it. Is their any help or programs, websights you know that could fix this problem?
any help be appreciated =)
i thought ad-aware had back up's of all the files it removed... try using ad-aware to restore those files, and then restart and check it out.

See if you can get your wife to use Firebird. It's looks quite similar and I don't have a problem reading pdf's either. It also has a built in pop up killer that, IMO, works better than any other seperate software. Not to mention... it's not IE. :)

My parents have switched to Firebird after I installed it on their machine without telling them. They haven't noticed!
goto add/remove programs and click on internet explorer. It'll give you an option to repair internet explorer. It has worked for me several time when something gets messed up in explorer and I am not sure exactly what it is.

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".
I would be careful with that feature - the second time I used it it caused me to have to re-format.
Shawners do this. download this link its from microsoft. it will allow you to download the partial setup file. once u download it to your desktop click on it and it will allow you to reinstall all the internet explorer components.
heres the link it should work, because i did this once and i had no problems.

First question should have been can any other program connect to the internet. New.net was know to cause problem with Winsock 2 when uninstall wrong. I know that there is a program call LSPFix and this would show any winsock drivers and allow you to removed them.

i had a simaler problem and i tried every thing that i could think of and it was not until i ran spybot S&D a couple times, until it said it was going to apply a network fix. and it is working now! but i have been reading around and there were many people that had IE crush and it seem that there were different fixes for each case.
I cant locate anything to recover that adaware removed to cause a problem with internet explorer.. Theirs alot of ads as well as search bars. I cant uninstall IE 6 on windows xp.. Its integrated with windows, so i cant click repair.. I tried the microsoft setup file, that downloads internet explorer partial setup.. after it gets to a certain point, it says, "The file was downloaded and didnt get verified of contents or that it was from microsoft" so it aborts.. If anyone else can think of any ideas, please let me know.
okay i finally fixed the problem i think, i had to go to ad remove programs, and go to install other components, such as windows media, and other such things.. So after i redid that it finally worked, still have ads poping up as soon as i activate the explorer though. Ad-aware isnt finding it, or removing it completely.
In the advanced mode of Spybot under tools you can see what BHO's you have installed. Also Spysweeper is a little better than Ad-aware now.
