Does Peer gaurdian work when using DC or DC++

Im using peer guardian 2.9 and the icon is running in my tool bar yet im not sure if its working. Im running the latest itineration of Direct Connect. Can anyone post a screen cap showing what it should look like.

Also is there any other program, I can use besides this to keep me safe from riaa and mpaa problems.Does this program work well? Lots of questions and few answers so far.

    Thanks

Well, i've heard some Zeropaid members say that tinfoil hats also protect you from the "industries" hired goons, but i'm pretty sure plastic wrap, or maybe just plain ole garbage bags might suit as well.

That's almost as bad as the people who "pull out" before they finish their file.

Well, this morning there was several IP addys that were blocked. So I guess it works somewhat. Im just worried because im at college and one of the girls in the dorms is being sued for music sharing. She was using Kazaa lite. I cant afford to have cable, and I like to be able to download a tv show called smallville. Theres an actor Tom Welling hes so dreamy. anyway thanks guys for all the help.

First of all welcome to ZP. :)

The problem with PG is its not 100% protection since its based IPs ppl report in after the fact. Also it very easy for media snoops to keep changing thier IPs. There no complete garantee you will be blocking these snoop bots IP and not some filesharing person's IP. Also you might block a bunch but there is always the possibilty of one getting through, that's all you need get on lawsuit list.

Unless of course there has been some new developements for PG that I am not aware of. In that case I'm sure Method will let us know.

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".

Well, this is troubling. What program do you think is best? What if I just connect to offshore hubs? Im really worried now. I dont share music at all. What are they really going after? Isnt there anyway we can stop these greedy people? Can I use a proxy? Im so confused and its not because im a blonde.

Thankyou for the welcome, I was a little prissy last night when one of the girls in another dorm told me what happened to her friend.

To bad this wasnt the same as being pulled over for a speeding ticket!

Thats not really the sticking point. It's "are those addresses really the "goons"? You gotta believe those hired goons change their IPs constantly.

It's this constant change that makes PG ineffective.

Speaking in terms Direct Connect, I mostly hang out in private hubs which provides some level of security.

As for as offshore hubs it really does not make a difference since the hub owner is not generally the target. Its the ppl sharing copyrighted stuff that they are intersted in.

I want to be fair and not just snap-up a download then take it outa my share file. If I ever get caught doing this downloading stuff my dads going to have a fit and probably take my credit card away. Since I broke up with my boyfriend last month I cant have that happen.

Do you guys have any other advice

Download and share all the TV programs you want, no one is suing for that.

Well I am guilty of downloading a few new releases. What about the new T. Cruise movie. and what about movies that are already at blockbuster? What if I get sued and I just claim I have no money will that work? It's the truth!

I think the tv shows are great if theres no problems with it, I dont download any music.

There must be some program I can use that works?

BitTorrent is the best place for new TV and films (www.zeropaid.com/torrent/).
You wont get sued for films either, but the MPAA (film version of the music RIAA) may complain to your ISP. This usally just results in a warning letter, but they will cut your connection for a few days if they are mean. Your college may not be so soft on you if they are the ones who get the letter and can trace it to you.
I havn't managed to get a good copy of the T. Cruise film yet, but i've seen it at the cinema anyway. Well worth the money.

There's no way to be absolutely safe, you just avoid risky behaviors like sharing music on kazaa et cetera.

You won't get sued for downloading TV or movies, but your college can suspend your account so you can't get on the net or use the computer labs.
