    Ripping a webstream?

Can anyone show me, if it's possible, how to record/save a webstream. Like saving a realmedia or wmv streaming file to your hardrive so you can view it whenever you want without having to be online.
It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything

If you use winamp theres a program out there called streamripper that works great. Other wise use a program that records the incoming stream directly through your sound card, for instance i use Audio Recorder Deluxe which works perfectly for me, i know you can find it at download.com along with countles other rippers, just browse around and find something you like :)

EDIT: ...wait your talking about video...sorry. Uhm, i know theres a few programs out there that you can use to capture video on your screen, but you wont have any audio with it...but as far as i know, there isnt, though im sure somebody with a little more knowledge in the area could be more helpfull than me :P

There was a programme called stream ripper that ripped .RA streams (real audio) from the encrypted bytestream. Real Networks sued the company, they lost, removed the technology. If your lucky you can still find and older version of the program on a p2p network.

Audio can be ripped using any sound recorder software (cooledit pro works good) and going into your audio settings, and select "Loopback" or "What you hear" then just press record on your sound recording software when the stream starts.

Directly ripping video streams is hard, the simple way if it is an *.mpg is use find to search your internet cache, using *.mpg or *.rm or *.mp* as the filter. Play the file and if it is what you want. move it out of the cache and rename it to what you want.

    Good luck.
Is it not a feat sublime? Intellect hath conquered time.
