    Very strange Outlook Express!

Hi to all. It just happened, open Outlook Express and it takes ages to open even then it comes up it bits and pieces! Once it is open it seems OK!
I have lots of programs and all the others pop up as fast as usual!
    I have Windows XP Prof.
Oh yes, not wishing to open a can of worms, however I just have to mention this!
I have used Norton System Works 2003 for several months but because I have been told that it does more harm then good! I took it out and just have the Anti Virus, however when I had a problems Norton One Button Checkup seemed to cure most of them!
    Any comments on this please!
    Thank you.

I used Outlook Express many years ago.

These days I use MS Outlook 2003 and it seems to work fine. I also use Windows XP.

    My 2 cents:

Norton System Works should be called "Norton Slow Down Your System Works" in my not-so-humble personal opinion. My recommendation: ditch Norton, including the Antivirus, use AVG Antivirus instead. Delete stuff you don't need, old emails, especially anything with an attachement, if you want the attachment save it separate. Use Tracks Eraser Pro to clean up your temp files, cache, and those ever-growing secret .dat files windows keeps. Scan for spyware using Adaware and Spybot S&D. Then defrag. You might want to consider getting something better than Outlook, too. If you use hotmail, just use the web interface. If you've got a pop3 account, try the last free version of Calypso, I'm rather fond of it.

good directions...i have found that outlook express 6 can do pretty much the same thing on xp. sometimes the outlook express client won`t come up for about 40/50 seconds after you click on the desktop icon. sometimes the client comes up straight away but the dialer can take its own sweet time (20/30 seconds). i now use foxmail 5,an excellent email client.

I used to use Outlook Express until the final release of Outlook 2003. I found that outlook 2000 and Outlook XP were both way to slow for me.
