Gnucleus Clones

How does all these other programs rip off Gnucleus. There is a whole bunch of them (just go to Gnucleus homepage to find out)
It seems thought that they all suck. NeoNapster,Mynapster,Morpheus. There is alot more. How is Gnucleus the only Program getting riped off. Except Kazaa and Kazaa lite. But in Gnucleus there is tons of them. Why is Gnucleus seem to be the biggest one to rip off.
Rip off Napster that would be cool.

There are other forums to post in other than the louge you know.. A good portion of threads i have to move is yours from the louge to where they should be..

gnucleus is probably the only windows open source program for gnutella that is half decent and most popular.. Its funny that you think it sucks because alot of these programs is gnucleus but wth different names and ads bundled in..

Napster clones which one? There are tons of napster clones out and IMHO napster is the greatest overglorifed program in P2P of all time.. People think it was the greatest when it wasnt that great.. The internal player was windows media player, chat sucked, they didnt have downloads/uploads anything like it was today..

I am very fond of gnucleus + gnutella. i would rather use the original version of glucleus then a clone. Like wise, i remember i tried the clone mynapster, it was a gnucleus clone. I was glad that i found out that i was using a clone. The only way i would whole heartely choose to use a clone, is, because the money they made, absolutely went for a good cause. * to help others* non profit organtizations. whats a few ads amongst other things. hmm. depends on the degree of web tracking and privacy. but the original gnucleus is the best. why would anyone choose a clone, when they can have the full free version, unless to support the clone for a good cause.

what! I have not found one that looks like Napster with. all the same stuff as Napster .

Maybe I have missed the boat here, But I thought the original open source was Gnutella, as such gnucleus is a clone of that. If this is the case then there are no Gnucleus clones only Gnutella clones. So if someone comes up with a very superior clone ( namely Shareaza ) why all the bitching? Mike is far and away a better coder than Swabby, and has developped a superior client. Just use it.
Flame protection is off, take your best shot. But try it first otherwise I'll ignore you.

Gnutella IS NOT open source.. Gnutella was never released under the GPL so it is not open source in any way other than that some programs choose to be open source..

The orginal gnutella servent was leaked by Nullsoft.. With some help from someone in Nullsoft the protocol for gnutella was reversed engineered.. Its that reversed engineered code and those orginal nullsoft gnutella servents which was the basis for gnutella.

Other programs over time have modified it, improved and otherwise changed it to make gnutella the growing network that it is..

Long story short, why use a Gnucleus clone full of ads or spyware when you can have the original Gnuclues free of ads and spyware. Also Gnucleus auto evolves(updates) itself so you always have the latest version. These clones do not auto evolve. I see absolutely no reason to use a clone. If anybody can come up with a good reason to use a clone, please post it because I wan't to know.

Just look at the problems posted in the Gnucleus forum, Swabby is taking too long to come up with the fixes. Then try Shareaza v.1.6. no Ads, no Spyware and no problems.

Its not true... there are many clones from Limewire out too...

Only clients which are open source can be cloned. Kazaa for excample is NOT open source and "kazaa lite" is no clone only an illegal version without the ads.
