    Check This Out

Anytime I'm uploading over night, I awake to a downed connection. I download like crazy over night and upload also, but my connection goes down if I upload too long. My connection literally works perfectly if I dont allow any uploading, that sucks. I dont want to disable my uploading at all, period. What could be the cause of this??? I can upload fine, I just cant upload for long periods of time, like it may be accessing too many ips in a certain. Not sure what the reason is, but that means I cant upload over night or when I'm away from my computer. It usually goes down about an 1hr after I start uploading and we are talking only one damn person at a time, that already sucks.

    Computer Specs:

    Windows Xp Sp1
    8 gig RAM
    1 terabyte Harddrive
    3.8ghz P4
    My computer found here www.go-l.com

    which p2p client?

    all of them?

i would recommend limiting your upload bandwidth to just under your cap. that way you shouldn't be brought down by that.

i use a program called netlimiter to accomplish this, but many p2p programs have built in this functionality.

ALL OF THEM. I have 4mb dl and 256 ul. I only allow 32Kb uploading, yet it still goes down. I'll see about that netlimiter, but I'm sure its not gonna help. Thanks for the help. Any more info would be good.

haha i can't believe somebody actually paid for a go-l computer... might be that your isp just dc's you bc you have been connected for a certain amount of time.

That sounds very much like a thread I read this afternoon about a new kind of ISP capping, you should look for it in the forums.

I believe he was the one that wrote that...

Anyway... don't assume its your ISP having a grudge on you... limiting your ul to 32 KBps on a 256k is still to much. Try limiting it to around 25... thats what I do, with the same ul.. and my dl is only 150 KBps max... and even though when Im maxing my connection it never quits, it often affects the download capacity when above 25 KBps ul.
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):

    ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
    AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
    Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)
2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM
2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
    Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer

    Also sporting a black MacBook
    Revision/Release 1
    Upgraded to 2GB RAM.

Think it goes something like this

    1,000 KB = 1 MB
    1,000 MB = 1 GB
    1,000 GB = 1 Terabyte or "TB"

As far as price...ALOT. Though I would point out that there have been a few articles on those PC's or more to the point the company that makes them. From what I have heard, much of what is promised on them are components that were not available when it initialy went on sale (read the fine print....it is all aftermarket pieced together stuff anyway - INTEL proccessors, ATI chipsets etc.). Those PC's have been for sale since at least the begginning of 2003. Though the components may be available now they certainly weren't when the PC's originaly went on sale. I'd be very sceptical of a company that sells you stuff that isn't even on the market yet. Incase you are interested how a machine like that stacks up against a comparable custom built machine (read: one you can build yourself if you got the bucks) here is a review:

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".

too rich? why? it isn't much more than 4 250s (which is all it is anyway, encased in a box)

if i could afford 4 250s, i'd get one of those--it even connects via firewire--i could connect it to a networked cheap pos in my basement and ignore the heat and noise

I have run into this same trouble before. This could be caused, as it was in my case, by electrical noise interference which degrades your connection over time, starting with your upload connection and eventually you get disconnection. Try sorting out any messy, crossing wires and maybe even moving your electrical connections to seperate outlets. Im almost positive this is your problem.
If none of this helps call your ISP and they can have you run a signal to noise test(maybe you should do this first) to see if its a line problem.

that might be the case if you're ISP is using dynamic IP addressing in that scenario each ip addy is only leased out for a limited amount of time 24-48 lets say once the time expires it much give it up for another one. On the other hand it might just be ur ISP is giving you nudjes they do not like ur online activity or you are doing too much of it.

    like honestly, who does that?!?!
