    Bt Speed

I was wondering what most people get for average dl speed. Cause I don't think that I am getting a full dl speed. AND I WANT TO ACTUALLY DL at 128kbs thats what I pay for High Speed for.

Umm how fast is ur highspeed, who is it with and how much does it cost...if it is not Cable internet with...1.5 Mega-BIT, not byte, connection, you won't see those download speeds.

The internet you are subsribed to has a "kb" rating...I'm sure...the average DSL is 256 kilobits...

    1 byte = 8 bits

so, ur download speed is actually (for example)

    256/8=32 KB...kilobytes...

    are you catching me?

so you ARE prolly downloading at 128 kilobits(kb) which is 16 KB/s.

    Any other questions?

    BTW 1.5 megabits is 1024 bits X 1.5 = 1536 bits, which is 192 KB/s :aim

According to these people my net connection is higher than 1.5mbps. But I pay cox for a 1.5mbps connect. And according to azureaus all my ports are open. I know that mainly cause I opened those ports on my Router. And I connect to like a 40 peers but I never get a really fast connection.

It happens. It's not always something that's under your control. If this is only a chance happening, deal with it.

Mess with your upload speed. Too high of an upload rate can choke your download speeds. Setting your upload too low will give you a bad rating and slow your download speed. Just try to find a medium.

OK then...you should be getting better speeds...do you have a modem with a built in firewall? Sometimes onpening up all ports on ur router won't prevent blocking of ppl. You also may be connecting to 'peers' that don't have the pieces of files that you need...so no matter how many that you connect to, they will not cause ur DL to go faster. Also, the more seeds you have the better. You also need to have a file/prog that will allow you to announce to the tracker manually, until you have sufficient seeds/leeches...and hopefully some of them will have a good connection...hope this helps

Yeah that does help. Now what is "announce to the tracker manually"?

And phalkon I will try limiting my upload, cause right now I have it on unlimited.

bt speeds usually rock your connection out of this world, but like most things in life things come in different shapes and sizes and don't always work out quite like you would like it to work out. the more popular the torrent is the more seeders/leechs it has the more swift the download will go, on the other hand if the numbers are in the double digits don't be expecting to max out ur connection simply because the file is not that popular. Just be patient even for me I do get various speeds on bt but nothing that doesn't please me because HEY it's still FREE right?

What is the health of your torrents? If you have a firewall/router/NAT problem then in Azureus the "health" will be yellow and in ABC the whole torrent will appear slimey greeny yellow (supposedly just yellow). If all is well then "health" or the torrent will appear green.
If you have this problem then you can still upload and download, but you wont get credit for uploading (hence your download speed will suck).
The problem may be caused by your router, firewall (including XP firewall) or server.
If you have a router there is loads of help if you google for port forwarding. I can help with the XP firewall, how to do that was a pain to find.

If you are even slightly concerned about your BT speeds, please check this thread.

Try 11kbs up as your limit on a 128k upload package...double it for 256/1.5mb lines and keep going up as you hit 384/ect. That seems to be the sweet spot on BT. Enough to keep everyone happy whilst not slowing your downloads down or slowing your surfing.
