    paranoid p2p fools

i have been coming to this site since it first opened, way back when napster was around. i used to come here everyday to get the latest news on p2p. now i come here to laugh. paranoid people. before the goverment comes and arrests me for downloading a song, maybe they should pass a bill that makes a minimum iq to get net access. enjoy p2p. i do. but some (most) of the post i have read are by paranoid stupid people. even the main page on this site is all about paraoia. come on people, you get your movies games and music for free. to bad that some of you cant download common sense for free. feel free to post if you agree or disagree. but look from the outside and go through the main page and read the post. there are some stupid people here.

looking at the way some topics are worded you can tell that many here don't have a grasp on their native language--i think some paranoia is warranted, but more realism is also needed--their test case is giong to be somebody that is flagrantly violating copyrights--sharing an obscene amount of (probably current) stuff--people like me who share bands that are long since dead and forgotten have little to worry about

if you are worried, get yourself a proxy (good luck), or use a private system like dc(++) or filetopia and stay away from winmx and kazaa-- heck they suck anyway

    Paranoid?

Some of it is paranoia but some of it is realistic my friend. You see i think this is am easuring stick for what freedoms the Net can really offer. My feeling is if they regualte or attempt to control it. What content is safe on the net? any? Do you think ANYONE should have a say or should it be free space so to speak? Personally i think this could have a snowball effect for later enforcement. I think information should be shared for the betterment of all and i think music (which is THE universal language) is a good litmus test of sorts for the future net questions. So you tell me if i am paranoid or being realistic and looking for my best interests?

    disagree

I don't think anyone here is really paranoid.
what I think is that there are a lot of young kids and newbies here, and there is nothing wrong with that. You got to start somewhere.
If you really feel there are a lot of stupid people here you should hang out and educate.
What I really feel is there is a lot of imaturity here, but again. That is not a sin. How can that be wrong?
Were you born knowing it all with computer and a p2p client?
Be a teacher and teach us something, don't share negativity, the world has enough of that.

Your points are semi valid, you need to think more.

    Peace dude!

I don't think paranoia is necessarily a bad thing when it comes to P2P.

Without paranoia over the RIAA shutting down all centralized P2P programs, Gnutella, FastTrack, and other decentralized programs wouldn't exist, nor would awesome, cool things like FreeNet exist.

There has to be a healthy paranoia, where instead of sitting there all scared and pissing our pants, we go out and create things that reduce our paranoia and make us feel safe again. :gj

Since a majority of p2p users are teens, you'll see a lot of them posting on this site. Not all of them have reached full maturity yet, and that may be reflected in their posts. There's nothing that can be done about this, yet eventually they will reach maturity. However, there will always be people to take their place. :mellow

Also, how can you blame p2p users for being paranoid? Just when they get comfortable with an app it gets shutdown or they discover some hidden spyware/adware, after that I think that most everyone has to be a little paranoid. Not to mention the possibility of downloading viruses that could potentially damage your system. I think there is a huge difference between paranoia and just being careful.

I agree with ashep612 you have to be a little paranoid, because of all the spyware and adware been bundled in software today.

He does have a point though

:devil There are a lot of paranoid people that post here. While I don't have a crystal ball, I still believe it will be a loooong before the RIAA puts anyone in prison. This will be fought in the courts for years and there are many hurdles the RIAA will have to cross before anyone sees jail time. I can see them pushing for new anti-copy cd's and continuing harassment of ISP's but I don't know if they have the gonads (or money) to start putting potential customers in the clink. I hope I'm right.....
