Forget Radio, Best of '03 Found in Indie Circles
When it comes to music, 2003 was the year of the indies. Everything from Indie rock to Indie rap to Indie opera (just kidding) was in bloom this year. While mainstream music sales were sluggish, sales of Indie (independent) artists were through the roof. Now granted, several of these Indie acts have national level distribution deals with companies like RCA, etc..., but still, music fans made a statement this year. I find it ironic, however, that the record companies behind the downloading jihad were the same ones crying foul when sales tanked. Hmm, let me think. It seems to me that when p2p services like Kazaa and Napster were being used in abundance, record sales were up. And now, when record companies are suing potential customers, they gnash their teeth and weep. In statistics, we'd call this a positive correlation - but I'm no statistician, nor am I a record exec ... but if the shoe fits...

Hurt no more my son.
One of the DJ's at the rock station here was asking people why are they requesting "The darkness". Which just made it in the USA last month.. And i was tempted to call and tell them, "Its cause you play the top 40 over and over, and you have SO MUCH music you could play or in your playlist, but you play the top 2percent of what you like as well as the other 1percent of the new songs of the year.
