direct connect has whole albums--you just download folders--no stupid zipping

doesn't compressing an already compressed file screw the quality? by all laws of physics it should

    album

you cannot upzip all one file mp3 albums. only if you see zip or albw in the file. Then you can extract the files.
But to cut your one large mp3 into individual files you need a mp3 cutting application.
There are a few out there, some easy some harder to learn.

here are some names of some freeware apps. that cut and trim mp3's

    mp3directcut
    musicutter
    mp3cutter

mp3trim , you could concieveably use this by saving a uncut version in a serparate folder, in case you make a mistake.
Than just cut off the songs.

if you need more help just ask..
search google or yahoo for the apps I mentioned.

If you can't find them let me know and I will see if I can get them to you.

To download full albums, you can use mp3 sites like www.simplemp3s.com (beware though, don't click any of the links, just stick to the albums on the site). They usually zip each file and then rename it, which means they can open with WinZip. Sometimes they pack them into a rar file and split it into a thousand files. Either way, it's a pretty good site for being consistent. Note that sometimes a file may be corrupt, just download it again until it completes correctly.

    mp3 splitter

I used to use mp3 Trackmaker v1.4 in case an _Albw labeled album really wasn't an AlbumWrap. It works along with Winamp, and splits the long file into tracks. Then use Winamp or MMJB to ID all the tracks - bit of work, only if it's something rare and high bitrate. You can get it at http://www.heathcosoft.com/ and try out the demo. Also, the AlbumWrap extractor is free and you can get it at http://infamus.com/albumwrap/extractor.html .But DC or DC++ is the way to go and just bypass all this work.

download slots are infinite by default

search=little magnifying glass (only useful once you have connected to a hub)

in settings/sharing--open a MINIMUM of 2 upload slots, share a MINIMUM of 3 gigs of good files (without this most hubs will block entry)

connect to hub=hit computer icon, choose a hub that suits your needs and connect

Home of the DC hub where we share MP3s that meet the following requirements:

    - All albums must be ripped from original CDs (not CD-Rs) using only EAC (secure mode or CRC checked)
    - LAME 3.92 [alt preset standard] only
    - full albums only
    - only share folders with mp3s
    - all albums in their own directory (Michael Jackson - Thriller)
    - and lastly, each directory MUST have a .LOG file generated by EAC
(EAC -> EAC Options -> Tools Tab (automatically write status report)

If you think you can live inside this MP3 Nazi regime, gimme a shout.

you are completely right, and at least you are honest--audiograbber works every bit as well as eac, lame 3.92 is not any better than lame 3.8x--you are just shutting out a lot of good users

i never thought i'd see "mp3 snobs" but todays the day i guess
